Content Management
Once your site is online, you have to make sure that the information you publish keeps changing to reflect the changes in your business. Floating a site is a one-time effort while keeping ii updated cost time and money on a continuous basis.
What the Admin Interface can do ?
This demonstration has been based on our demo shop at
, but you will appreciate that such administration interface can be applied to any database backend no matter what is the type of the application. Such backends can do virtually anything you want with the data. The following list is not exhaustive but just gives an idea :-
- For a shop front it can do all data management functions, a list of the broader aspects are given on the Admin demo page.
- For any type of web site application requiring organized data, other than shop fronts, such an interface can do complete data management. This includes loading image files.
- Take actions like generating warnings and / or vendor orders etc. on data reaching pre-set limiting levels.
- Generation of reports on a pre-determined schedule. This may be used to generate statutory reports like sales tax statements, categorized sales figures per periods etc.
- Carry out other specialised MIS services e.g. stock movement reports, user pattern study, targeting users etc.
- Do simple accounting functions based on type of data stored.
Security
The interface is a stand-alone programme operable only by designated persons and different access levels can be assigned to different operators. For instance, normal operations e.g. daily product management, printing orders etc. can be accessed by a lower level operator while specialised functions like managing categories, assigning access to operators etc. can be performed only at higher access levels. If necessary, the interface can be installed on a different server for security reasons provided access of the Database Server from the Admin Server is permitted.
What would it cost ?
The interface uses a very user-friendly menu driven program that can be operated by any computer literate person without any knowledge of HTML, scripting or even database. Requirement of lower skill levels and automating several functions will substantially reduce cost of maintenance for small business / institutions. So the one time cost of the interface will far out-weigh the recurring cost of content management and business operations. Then again our initial cost is well within reach of users.
Expandability
The interface is of modular design and you can add functions as the business or web site traffic picks up and you feel the need of additional modules. This will help you in limiting the initial cost even further and invest with expansion of business / activities.
